Berry trees are a unique species of tree that drop Berries. They can be found naturally in Villages in 2-4 patches with multiple patches depending on the size of the village.

Each type of Berry tree has a separate model, so some types of Berries currently do not have corresponding Berry trees. The Pixelmon team is accepting Berry tree model submissions on the Pixelmon forum.
+
Naturally occurring Berry trees spawn as a sapling or fully grown, and stay fully grown indefinitely until they are destroyed. They will always produce 1-2 Berries when right clicked on fruiting leaves.

Naturally occurring Berry trees spawn fully grown, and stay fully grown indefinitely until they are picked, after which they will disappear. They will always produce 1-2 Berries when picked.

Planting
When a Berry is used on grass, dirt, or farmland, a seed will be planted in the dirt; this seed will gradually grow into a Berry tree, which can then be harvested for Berries of the same type as the Berry that was planted.

After planting a Berry, a seed will appear in the dirt. As time passes (Minecraft time), the seed will transition through three intermediate stages (a sapling, a young tree, and a flowering tree) before reaching a mature stage where Berries are visible. When the Berry tree matures, Berries can be picked from the tree by interacting with it. After picking from the tree, the tree will disappear.
+
Wild Berry Trees
 +
In addition to the trees in Villages, when the config "wild-berry-trees" is enabled in Dimensions.yml (disabled by default), berry trees spawn naturally in the wild in various biome categories.

If a mature Berry tree is left alone and not picked from, it will die after a certain amount of time. When a tree dies, there is a 50% chance that it will revert back to a seed (restarting the growth process), and a 50% chance that it will disappear completely. The time taken for a Berry tree to grow/die depends on the Berry tree's type.
+
If a biome is in multiple categories, all berries for each category can spawn in it. For example, a Dark Forest biome is in both Roofed and All Forests categories, so has the Wepear Berry from Roofed as well as all the berries available to All Forests.

The number of Berries produced by a Berry tree depends on a few factors.

Berry trees can be destroyed at any stage, and can be destroyed faster using an axe. When destroyed, the seed stage will drop a single Berry, while a fully grown tree will drop the same amount of Berries that would have been obtained by picking from the tree. Destroying a Berry tree during its intermediate growth stages will cause it to drop nothing.

A maximum of 16 Berry trees and Apricorn trees (combined) can be planted in a world chunk. This limit can be changed by modifying the "maximumPlants" config setting.

Multiple Berry Patch

Generation

Berry trees are a unique species of tree that drop Berries. They can be found naturally in Villages in 2-4 patches with multiple patches depending on the size of the village.

Naturally occurring Berry trees spawn as a sapling or fully grown, and stay fully grown indefinitely until they are destroyed. They will always produce 1-2 Berries when right clicked on fruiting leaves.

Wild Berry Trees

In addition to the trees in Villages, when the config "wild-berry-trees" is enabled in Dimensions.yml (disabled by default), berry trees spawn naturally in the wild in various biome categories.

If a biome is in multiple categories, all berries for each category can spawn in it. For example, a Dark Forest biome is in both Roofed and All Forests categories, so has the Wepear Berry from Roofed as well as all the berries available to All Forests.

Planting

When a Berry is used on grass, dirt, or farmland, a seed will be planted in the dirt; this seed will gradually grow into a Berry tree, which can then be harvested for Berries of the same type as the Berry that was planted. Make sure to plant the Berry on vanilla blocks. Modded may not work. Berries do not require a source of water to grow, unlike Minecraft's other plants, but require a light level of 9 in order to grow, using a Wailmer Pail or bone meal on the berry sapling helps it grow into a full tree.

After planting a Berry, a seed will appear in the dirt. As time passes the seed will grow into a tree where the leaves will grow the berries, The growth time of the berries is similar to that of normal crops.

Berry tree saplings can be destroyed, however they do not drop their respective berry. Berry tree logs like vanilla logs can be destroyed faster using an axe and the logs can be used for crafting certain wooden items based on the internal log color. This color can be seen ingame by observing the top face of a log.
