Meltan is a Mythical Steel-type Pokémon.

It melts particles of iron and other metals found in the subsoil, so it can absorb them into its body of molten steel.

Meltan has a 1/8192 chance of spawning when metal ore is mined. These ores are Iron, Gold, Bauxite and Silicon. The chance is higher when using a Pickaxe with the Fortune enchantment, with higher levels of Fortune giving increased chance. This works with both naturally-spawned and player-placed ore blocks.

Upon catching, there is a 60% chance that the Meltan will become a Ditto. Both the chance of Meltan spawning and the chance of it becoming a Ditto can be edited in the config.

Meltan will evolve into Melmetal when leveled up after 400 metal ores have been mined with the Meltan in your party.

There is an issue with Meltan not spawning or evolving in 7.0.6 that can be fixed by installing the Meltan Fixer sidemod.
