Toxic Spikes is a Poison-type move that covers the opponent's side of the field in toxic spikes. It can be used up to two times. One layer of Toxic Spikes will cause Pokémon switching in on the opponent's side to become poisoned, while two layers will cause them to become badly poisoned (Toxic). Toxic Spikes has no effect against Flying, Poison, or Steel-type Pokémon, and Poison-type Pokémon (except Poison/Flying-type Pokémon) also will remove any Toxic Spikes that are present on that side. Rapid Spin will also remove Toxic Spikes on the user's side.
