Ivysaur is a dual-type Grass/Poison species. It is part of the Bulbasaur evolutionary line.

The secondary evolved form of Bulbasaur, Ivysaur has remained a quadruped saurian Pokémon beyond its first evolution. It has grown in size and the clawed toes have grown to hold its greater weight above the ground, higher than the original Bulbasaur could stand on its immature legs. A powerful creature, Ivysaur is capable of far greater feats than its predecessor; theorized to have developed because of the increasing weight of its hosted plant. The seed, which had been implanted into its back from birth, has grown into a blossoming flower protected by palm leaves curled around the bright pinkish bulb of petals. Often closed in order to protect the true center of its power, Ivysaur's flowering seed spreads a strong sweet scent just before it is ready to bloom and ingest sunlight. This is often induced to occur repeatedly in captive Ivysaur, due to the increased strength given by photosynthesizing spread leaves during battle. Due to its increased weight, Ivysaur is no longer capable of standing on its hind legs.

Rarity

Ivysaur is a shy Pokémon, using its greenish colouration and iconic flowering bulb to hide amongst the undergrowth of its native forests. A rare creature to be found in the wild, Ivysaur is even less likely to appear than Bulbasaur.
