A Sun Stone shard can be obtained by mining Sun Stone ore, as a drop from wild Solrock, or by using Forage on stone-based blocks with a Fairy or Fire-type Pokémon. However, Sun Stone ore does not spawn naturally, so Sun Stone shards can only be obtained legitimately from Forage and drops.
