After obtaining a printer, [[File:Grid_Blank_Fire_Card_%28uncommon%29.png|16px|link=Pixelmon TCG/Blank_Cards]][[Pixelmon TCG/Blank_Cards|blank cards]] can be combined with photos to create Pixelmon TCG cards. Putting a blank card and a photo into a printer will produce a card of the Pokémon depicted in the photo. A blank card can also be placed in a printer without a photo, creating an energy card. Trainer cards cannot be printed yet.

Overview

Pixelmon TCG adds various items and blocks to the game in order to facilitate the collecting of, trading of, and playing of the Pokémon TCG within Pixelmon.

Getting started

Upon first joining a server, a player will not yet have any cards. In order to get started, booster packs can be bought with PokéDollars from a shopkeeper within a town, or created with essence.

Essence is dropped from wild Pokémon after knockout. The amount and type of essence dropped is relative to their level and types. On average, a level 50 Pokémon will drop 100 essence, but it is possible for them to drop way more than this. Legendaries drop over ten times the normal amount of essence.

In order to create a pack of a random set, 50 of each essence type is required. In order to create a pack of a specific set, 300 of each essence type is required instead.

Building a deck

Cards can be stored in a Grid Deck holder.pngDeck holder or a Grid Card binder.pngCard binder. Deck holders can hold a maximum of 60 cards and can be used in battle. Card binders can store a larger number of cards but cannot be used in battle. Both of them can be bought from a shopkeeper.

Battling

A battle can be started by using a Grid PixelmonTCG BattleBox.pngPixelmonTCG BattleBox while holding a valid card deck (more details in the TCG official rulebook) which will be used in the battle.

Battle rules are the same as in the official Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Below are current limitations of TCG battles:

  • To stop an ongoing battle, the BattleBox must be destroyed.
  • All cards and attacks in Base Set, Jungle and Fossil are implemented. The current development status of each card/attack/ability can be followed here.
