A Sun Stone shard can be obtained by mining Sun Stone ore, as a drop from wild Solrock, or by using Forage in certain biomes. However, Sun Stone ore does not spawn naturally, so Sun Stone shards can only be obtained legitimately from Forage, drops, and fishing.
