This article is about the Pokémon Ditto. For the Ditto Egg Group, see this page.
Ditto is a Normal-type Pokémon.
Ditto rearranges its cell structure to transform itself into other shapes. However, if it tries to transform itself into something by relying on its memory, this Pokémon manages to get details wrong.
Ditto has special properties related to breeding, allowing it to breed with any Pokémon (including male Pokémon) that isn't in the Undiscovered Egg Group and produce the other Pokémon's first evolutionary stage with the resulting Eggs. Ordinarily, Ditto cannot breed with itself, but enabling allow-ditto-ditto-breeding
in the breeding.yml
config file removes this restriction and produces an Egg containing any random Pokémon. Other config options can restrict Legendaries, Mythicals, and Ultra Beasts from this behavior.
After capturing certain wild Pokémon, the captured Pokémon has a chance (0.1% or 11000 by default) to be identified as a transformed Ditto. If this occurs, the wild Pokémon will then become a Ditto in the player's party or PC Box. The Pokémon that can transform into Ditto can be edited in the config. By default they are:
- Pidgey
- Rattata
- Gastly
- Zubat
- Mankey
- Yanma
- Hoothoot
- Sentret
- Zigzagoon
- Gulpin
- Whismur
- Taillow
- Remoraid
- Starly
Ditto can also be obtained from a cloning machine when the process of creating Mewtwo fails, in which case you have to interact with it to battle it. Additionally, there is a 75% chance by default that any caught Meltan will transform into Ditto. This can also be changed in the config.
Ditto also has a special zombie texture. More info can be found on Special Texture.
