Note that given a probability less than 100%, the chance of having at least one success will never reach 100% regardless of the number of attempts made. Additionally, there are diminishing returns from attempts in terms of probability as the predicted probability approaches 100%.

Meltan is a Mythical Steel-type Pokémon.

It melts particles of iron and other metals found in the subsoil, so it can absorb them into its body of molten steel.

Meltan has a 1/3072 chance (by default [1]) of spawning upon taking the smelted form of Iron, Gold, Bauxite or Silicon ores out of a furnace. Each time one of the mentioned smelted items are removed from a furnace by a player, a single attempt at spawning Meltan occurs; when multiple relevant items are taken from a furnace, the number of items taken out is the number of spawn attempts made [3]. Modded furnaces can be used too, as long as they use the same vanilla smelting mechanic and the ingot can be pulled out manually.

Upon capture, there is a 25% chance (by default [2]) that Meltan will become a Ditto. Both the chance of Meltan spawning and the chance of it becoming a Ditto can be edited in the config.

Meltan will evolve into Melmetal when leveled up after 400 metal ores have been smelted with the Meltan in your party.
