Toxic Spikes is a [[Poison]]-type move that covers the opponent's side of the field in toxic spikes. It can be used up to two times. One layer of Toxic Spikes will cause Pokémon switching in on the opponent's side to become poisoned, while two layers will cause them to become badly poisoned (like [[Toxic]]). Toxic Spikes has no effect against [[Flying]], [[Poison]], or [[Steel]]-type Pokémon, and Poison-type Pokémon (except Poison/[[Flying]]-type Pokémon and Poison-type Pokémon with [[Levitate]]) also will remove any Toxic Spikes that are present on that side. [[Rapid Spin]] can remove the entry hazard from the user's side of the field, while [[Defog]] removes the entry hazard from both sides of the field.
