Gems are held items that boost the power of a move of their corresponding type by 1.5×, being consumed in the process. They are crafted with six diamonds and an item related to the Gem's type. A config option can be set to allow boss Pokémon to drop Gems and for Pickup to possibly collect Gems; this option is off by default. Regardless of settings, Gems can also be obtained from PokéLoot chests.

Fairy Gems cannot be crafted or found and are unobtainable without spawning them in. They have no use as the Fairy type is not in Pixelmon.
