An Old Rod is the most basic rod in-game and the only one available legitimately. It is crafted like a vanilla fishing rod, but with a Poké Ball at the end.
An Old Rod is able to catch common Water-type Pokémon with it; it is used in a similar way as a Minecraft fishing rod. However, when a Pokémon is hooked, a "!" will appear in the chatbox rather than the bob being pulled down.
Possible catches
Goldeen and Magikarp are possible catches regardless of the biome the player is fishing in. Other Pokémon are only possible catches in biomes that they normally spawn in.
Trivia
- The Trainer editor uses the same sprite as the Old Rod.
