Mean Look is a Normal-type move that prevents the opponent from fleeing (including with Teleport) or switching out. The affected Pokémon can still switch out with Baton Pass, U-turn, or Volt Switch, and can still be forced out with Roar, Whirlwind, Dragon Tail, or Circle Throw. In a wild Pokémon battle, the trainer will still be able to escape if the active Pokémon is holding a Smoke Ball.
