A Sun Stone is an evolution stone that can be obtained as a drop from boss Pokémon. It can be used to evolve Gloom into Bellossom and Cottonee into Whimsicott.

Sun Stone shards exist and can be crafted into a Sun Stone, but Sun Stone ore doesn't spawn yet, so the shards cannot be obtained without spawning them in.
