A trainer's Starter Pokémon is the first Pokémon that a trainer is given to start being a Pokémon trainer. In Pixelmon, trainers are given a choice for their level 5 starter Pokémon between:

The choices for starter Pokémon can be modified in the Pixelmon config file. Options include:

Species of Pokémon
Number of choices
Starting level (5-100)
Whether the starters are shiny

Trivia

Both Pikachu and Eevee were formerly choices for starter Pokémon, but the options to choose them have since been removed.
