Pixelmon Mod

Hello,
I am a graphic designer and want to get into 3D modelling. I did a course of it in high school earlier this year and want to find out what to use.

I need a free piece of software since I can't afford anything since I started a pixelmon server 2 days ago.

Do I use the Free Trial for Maya? Because it says I have to buy it if I don't click that
