What's the difference between the two? Also which one is supported by original pixelmon developers.

Reforged has most of the old Pixelmon developers and staff, the rest has retired from it. It continues the legacy with only minor changes.
gens on the other hand - while technically being around for longer - is mostly known for shady practices like stealing most of their source code from Reforged and ripping models from the Pokémon games. What I hear from users their performance and support aren't the best either.
