Pokemon Contests, Ribbons, Decorative Pokeballs!

As a non-battler, I always thoroughly enjoyed the contests in the Pokemon games, BDSP being a disappointment. You'd imagine my surprise when I browsed the suggestions list with keyword "Contest" and found only 6 results, with only 1 ACTUALLY being about contests, BACK IN 2019

I can't possibly be the only one with this contest shaped hole in my heart, am I?
So the following will be suggestions on the topic at hand, borrowing some concepts from my fellow Contest Coordinator in 2019.

1. Making pre-generated Contest Halls appear throughout the world like the Gyms and Pokemon Centers, in these Contest Halls, just as in the games, you can pick what category and rank you'll be competing in. You could compete against other randomly generated NPCs or other players!

2. To put the obvious aside, moves will need their respective contest stats, and ribbons should be given to winners, it'd be cute if you could see your Pokemon wear the ribbons, but I can see how that'd be too difficult

3. Decorative Pokeballs, perhaps have a decoration table where you can right click and decorate away, adding some flair to your thrown Pokeball!

4. How the Contest would actually work
Here, I'm going to try to kind of mix ORAS and BDSP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So 1st, the Introduction Stage
-Pokemon will be judged based on the item they hold, and their corresponding Contest stat, which can be increased with Pokeblocks, just like in the games! Perhaps shiny and variant Pokemon can get some extra points.

2nd, the Rhythm Stage
-This is where we implement BDSP's feature, just a simple rhythm game to keep the trainer engaged.

3rd, the Talent Round
-This is where most of your points are gonna come from, and we'll be taking from ORAS since BDSP's Talent Round is a little brain dead.
-The Talent Round will involve you using specific Pokémon moves in order to gain appeal of the judges and crowd, and boost your excite meter. There are just five turns in which to perform these moves.
-Repeat the same move over and over, you will not get as many points.
-If you manage to hit the fifth star and fill the Excite Meter in your appeal, giving more points
-The most important change I want to add from ORAS's Talent Round, Mega Evolving a Pokemon will NOT add bonus points, this is to encourage the idea that ANY Pokemon has a chance to win this, wouldn't want everyone to toss in the same Megas for big points

4th, the Finale
-At the end of the Contest, your score then gets added up, and there we go!

Prizes
-Obviously the Ribbon, but we can also add Stickers to add to your ensemble, berries, money, ect.

I believe the Pokemon Contests are exactly what Pixelmon players need to spice things up.
I encourage anyone to comment and contribute to what you think about this Contest System and what it needs, let's do our best to spread Contest love!

I've been thinking about this idea myself for the past few days and decided to search for it on the forums here when I didn't see anything for it in the wiki. I'm glad to see your ideas! If I may add to your ideas...

1. Making pre-generated Contest Halls appear throughout the world like the Gyms and Pokemon Centers, in these Contest Halls, just as in the games, you can pick what category and rank you'll be competing in. You could compete against other randomly generated NPCs or other players!
Different Contest Halls may use different Contest Rules, determinable by speaking with a nearby NPC.

2. To put the obvious aside, moves will need their respective contest stats, and ribbons should be given to winners, it'd be cute if you could see your Pokemon wear the ribbons, but I can see how that'd be too difficult
There are already Ribbons (https://pixelmonmod.com/wiki/Ribbons), the Contest ones are just currently unused.

Effects, such as confetti, sparks, and smoke...
3. Decorative Pokeballs, perhaps have a decoration table where you can right click and decorate away, adding some flair to your thrown Pokeball!
...could be imitated with the use of Seals, like those in Sinnoh. They could release particle effects of a chosen color and shape, based on Minecraft's and Pixelmon's own existing particles!

Now, the actual Contests.
The system should use both the previous games and the more current ones, and combine them somewhat, like TMs and their various region sets. Perhaps Contests could have a "Contest Rules" setup like a battle's "Battle Rules", where you can select the amount of rounds and what types of rounds they are. Some default sets could include:
  • Gen 3 and 6's two round system, with Appearance and Appeal
  • Gen 4's three round system, with Visual, Dance, and Acting competitions
  • Gen 8's rhythm game system, with Visual, Dance, and Move categories

A few key points on each of these rounds, though...

  1. Pokemon will be judged based on the item they hold, and their corresponding Contest stat, which can be increased with Pokeblocks, just like in the games! Perhaps shiny and variant Pokemon can get some extra points.

The Appearance round, in Hoenn, is a simple judge of stats. In the games, the calculation is the full Condition of your set stat (ex. Coolness) plus your secondary conditions (ex. Beauty and Toughness) plus half your Pokemon's Sheen. It also appears as a category in Gen 8's Sinnoh.
The Visual Competition, in Gen 4's Sinnoh, was only performed on a DS, with 2D sprites. This makes the Visual Competition a bit more difficult to mimic, as it has never been conveyed in a 3D medium. However, I think I have come up with a potential solution. By looking at Gen 5, we find the Prop system, intended for Pokemon Musicals. Props "lock on" to a particular part of a Pokemon (ears, head, face, body, waist, and arms), which not only allows the Pokemon to move around without disrupting the item placement, but limits the number of placeable items on the Pokemon. Limiting the models is good in Pixelmon, as some slower computers may already have difficulty with the mod as is.
  2. This is where we implement BDSP's feature, just a simple rhythm game to keep the trainer engaged.

The Dance Round, only found in Sinnoh, was originally a Leader/Backup set in Gen 4. However, the rhythm game from Gen 8 does seem to be better in this regard. Perhaps this could be selected in the Contest Rules section?
  3. The Talent Round will involve you using specific Pokémon moves in order to gain appeal of the judges and crowd, and boost your excite meter. There are just five turns in which to perform these moves.
All good here. Jamming exists in Hoenn contests, and could be another option in the Contest Rules.
Repeat the same move over and over, you will not get as many points.
With the exception of certain moves, which have special effects that allow their usage two (Gen 4) to five (Gen 3) times in a row with no appeal penalty. Such moves as
If you manage to hit the fifth star and fill the Excite Meter in your appeal, giving more points
Particular rulesets may have different amounts of judges. Each judge has a different amount of stars. Performing alone to a judge is better than appealing alongside others to the same judge, making your judge selection very important for gaining more appeal.
The most important change I want to add from ORAS's Talent Round, Mega Evolving a Pokemon will NOT add bonus points, this is to encourage the idea that ANY Pokemon has a chance to win this, wouldn't want everyone to toss in the same Megas for big points
I see your point, but the reason Mega Evolution adds bonus points is due to the audience's excitement. Perhaps there could be other ways to boost points, though? Maybe using a Shiny or alternate forms could also boost points, or using Z-Moves to make it the most accessible to every Pokemon.
  4. At the end of the Contest, your score then gets added up, and there we go!
    Sounds good to me!

Prizes - Obviously the Ribbon, but we can also add Stickers to add to your ensemble, berries, money, ect.
A Ribbon added to the Pokemon would be good, as it gives the existing Ribbons a little more use! More Seals would be a good idea, as well. In fact, this could be the main method for receiving these! A monetary prize would be good, as well, as it gives an incentive to check out these Contest Halls. Berries might be a nice prize, as well, since Berries could be used to make (or in place of) Poffins and PokeBlocks.

In addition, Contests and Contest Conditions would give players a secondary way to evolve Feebas, just like in the base games. Not every move has a set condition yet, so that may need to be made up for now. Other than that, though, this sounds pretty good! What do you think of my additions, though?

Here's my review on this:
1 (Format): love the concept that combines Contest variants from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl! Showing off a Pokémon with stickers before the rhythm game followed by the Talent Round is a great format, but I have a better idea! After the Talent Round, the two best contestants will be battling each other by trying to outshine one another within 5 minutes just like in the TV show. The battle will be over in 3 outcomes (time is up, one of the Pokémon faints, or one contestant has no points left) and the winner of the battle will also win the Contest.

2 (Rewards): I don't think a ribbon would be considered to be a hold item for a Pokémon that won the Contest in Pixelmon. Besides, Contest ribbons have been narrowed down from 20 (4 for each category) to 5 as of Gen 6 (1 for each category), but still, I would rather have those ribbons in a Ribbon Case like in the TV show. As for Normal, Super, and Hyper Rank rewards, they should still be stickers for Ball Capsules like in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

3 (Pokéblocks/Poffins): I guess the berries & key items for Contests are dealt with. However, there should be machines for making Pokéblocks and Poffins that should increase conditions (Cool, Beautiful, Cute, Clever, Tough), and all Pokémon can have an unlimited sheen like in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (That means conditions can go up to maximum appeal).

About 2:
Ribbons are already implemented, and like Marks are applied to a specific Pokémon. They can be equipped/unequipped in their summary, via the ribbon icon next to their typing, and (most) add titles to the Pokémon's name, based on which Ribbon they have equipped.
Unlike Marks they are currently not obtainable by default, but servers/sidemods can implement custom ways to get them, or you can apply them via cheats.
